25 Anniversary Celebration
This is a remarkable time for cancer research. Thanks to gains in knowledge made by researchers here in Canada and around the world, we are already beginning to “Make Cancer History”.
Thanks to our guests and sponsors, the 2009 Make Cancer History Gala Ball raised $190,000.00 in our fight against cancer. Please help us to continue achieving our mission to eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life of people living with cancer.
Investing in the best research has led to tremendous progress against cancer. We know more about what causes cancer, how it develops, how best to treat it, and how we can improve the quality of life of cancer patients, survivors, families and caregivers. Today, 62% of people diagnosed with cancer survive their disease. In the 1960s, the survival rate was 1 in 3.
In 2008-2009, the Canadian Cancer Society funded more than $49 million in leading-edge research projects across the country. As the largest national charitable funder of cancer research in Canada, they are leading the way towards our goal of creating a world where no one has to be afraid of cancer.
2010 marks the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Make Cancer History Gala Ball in Winnipeg. This year highlights a significant milestone in the longevity and contribution of its volunteers, supporters and contributors. Our silver anniversary celebration promises to be another spectacular evening of fundraising and reflection of what it means to collaboratively work together to find a Cure for Cancer.
Follow us into an ENCHANTED FOREST to celebrate 25 years of fine dining, dancing and fundraising activities, all in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division.
This magical evening will commence with a cocktail reception, after which guests will feast on a tantalizing menu prepared by the executive chefs of the Convention Centre. Finally, we’ll dance the night away with the sound of Ron Paley’s Big Band.
